Virgo V @vision Dec 12 Life of an Expert Swordsman (Aru kengo no shōgai) is a 1959 samurai film directed and written by Hiroshi Inagaki. The play was written by Edmond Rostand. The film was released in the English-speaking world with the title Samurai Saga. It was based on Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. It was produced by Tomoyuki Tanaka. It stars Toshiro Mifune. Vision wrote: "this is the story of a samurai named Heihachiro Komaki played by Toshiro Mifune. Toshiro manages to showcase his qualities but is faced with far more issues than the foes he fights in the film; the story splits up too much. It is the one bad aspect of the film. Other than that, I would give this film three fries for the cinematography, the directing, Toshiro Mifune’s performance and the production." See more Read all reviews
