Audience Member It is probably best that Christopher Doyle remain a cinematographer and not a filmmaker. However, this is a beautifully shot movie with enough quirkiness to keep your attention. And, it remains effortlessly "cool". Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member It was beautiful seeing how Doyle applies his visual sense to directing his own film, which I think is a highly impressive film. I have always believed that cinematographers were always neglected as auteurs and watching this, it really displays what wonders can be done with the visual story-telling techniques that they have in abundance. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Subject matter is a solid 3 but the visuals and cinematography are a solid 5. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I admit I'll see anything with Tadanobu Asano in it, especially if it's unconventional. This was certainly unconventional, but also engaging if you like exploring language and the meaning of words. Made more sense within particular scenes than overall; perhaps too much was lost in translation. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Insanely good film by famed cinematographer Chris Doyle. Not for everyone, but definitely for the discerning viewer who wants a total experience. The gaze remains on three main characters and what a treat that is. The story is actually easier to follow than the critics say it is. It's a fun film. And quite different from the rest.
