Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times Co-directed by husband-and-wife filmmaking team Israel Crdenas and Laura Amelia Guzmn, Sand Dollars has an assured, light touch. Nov 18, 2015 Full Review Serena Donadoni Village Voice Guzmn and Crdenas present this tropical island as both Anne's romantic refuge and Noel's exploitative landscape, a beautiful, enchanting -- and realistic -- Eden where snakes are merely snakes. Nov 9, 2015 Full Review Stephen Holden New York Times Ms. Chaplin, in one of her most touching screen performances, imbues Anne with a world-weary melancholy that makes your heart sink. Audience Member Not sure why the critics liked it so much. The film is interesting just by the beauty of the girl. Very good looking. The story is rather simple. Just a question of feeling the pain. Oh the pain of it all... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member An elliptical film about a troubled romance, that really inserts itself in the subconscious through its subdued cinematography and fractured-yet-coheseive narrative. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Guzmán and Cárdenas present this tropical island as both Anne's romantic refuge and Noelí's exploitative landscape, a beautiful, enchanting -- and realistic -- Eden where snakes are merely snakes.
