Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Not as abysmal as other low-budget Christmas horror, but also never does anything more creative than the pun in its title. Rated: 2/5 Sep 20, 2023 Full Review Kat Hughes Film Disclosure An underwhelming yuletide horror that could, and should, have been so much better. A massive disappointment, to sit down and focus solely upon Santa's Slay would be ill-advised and this nonsense is best viewed in the background. Rated: 1/5 Dec 20, 2021 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews Goldberg delivers an appropriately tongue-in-cheek performance, imbuing his Santa Claus with a nice balance of malevolence and sleaziness... Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 17, 2006 Full Review David Cornelius Hollywood Bitchslap It's cheap, it's goofy, but it's surprisingly smart and endlessly entertaining. Rated: 3/5 Dec 30, 2005 Full Review Ryan Cracknell Movie Views Santa's Slay stands as one of the ultimate Christmas B-flicks. For my time, it's no Jack Frost or Jack Frost 2, but it does have a couple inspiring moments. Nov 27, 2005 Full Review Read all reviews

TheMovieSearch R Santa’s Slay (2005) is one of those horror-comedies that tries to be outrageous, self-aware, and over-the-top—but ends up feeling more like a chaotic parody of itself. Starring WWE legend Bill Goldberg as a murderous Santa Claus, the film immediately sets its tone with absurdity. The concept—a Santa who goes on a killing spree—could have worked as a clever dark comedy if it had been handled with even a hint of finesse or wit. Unfortunately, what we get instead is an incoherent mess that mistakes loud violence and forced camp for actual entertainment. The film opens with a chaotic dinner scene that feels more like a sketch than a real movie sequence, setting the stage for a story that never finds a rhythm. Goldberg plays Santa as a muscle-bound psychopath, delivering lines and kills with the same intensity he brought to the wrestling ring. The issue is that the movie never decides whether it wants to be funny or scary. It leans into exaggerated gore but forgets that horror-comedy only works when there’s clever timing or genuine shock value. Here, the tone is so erratic that the film collapses under its own attempt to be “so bad it’s good.” From a filmmaking perspective, Santa’s Slay feels thrown together with no real creative vision. The screenplay is paper-thin, filled with one-liners that rarely land and a storyline that doesn’t make much sense even by B-movie standards. There’s no world-building, no tension, and no consistency. Each scene feels like it was written in isolation, then glued together without a sense of pacing or progression. It’s the kind of script that reads more like an inside joke among filmmakers than an actual attempt to entertain an audience. The direction fares no better. It’s clear the filmmakers believed Goldberg’s star power would be enough to carry the project, but charisma can only go so far when the story itself has no backbone. Horror-comedy is one of the most difficult genres to pull off because it requires a perfect balance of humor, suspense, and absurdity. This film, however, doesn’t balance anything—it just throws everything at the wall and hopes the chaos feels intentional. Instead, it comes across as amateurish and exhausting. Even for fans of campy horror, Santa’s Slay doesn’t offer much to latch onto. The kills are unimaginative, the characters are forgettable, and the pacing drags despite the film’s short runtime. It feels like a missed opportunity—a concept that could’ve been delightfully twisted if handled with care but instead plays out like a fever dream of bad ideas. There’s no sense of rhythm or escalation, just random scenes stitched together for shock value. In the end, Santa’s Slay is the cinematic equivalent of coal in your stocking. It’s neither funny enough to be enjoyed ironically nor scary enough to work as legitimate horror. Bill Goldberg gives it his all, but the film surrounding him is hollow, poorly structured, and painfully unfunny. It’s not just a bad movie—it’s a textbook example of what happens when a wild idea is made without a clear plan, cohesive storytelling, or even a hint of holiday spirit. Definitely one to skip unless you’re looking to punish yourself with some festive nonsense. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/25 Full Review xpig332 B I love a good, stupid, horror comedy, this ain’t one of em, it’s a one time watch! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/06/25 Full Review Jason W Phenomenal. Full of great one liners that has you rooting for the giant, murderous, muscle man in red. Definitely a great flick for a yearly holiday viewing. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review John G Anyone that rags on this movie is obviously not who this movie was made for. It's ridiculous and hilarious. Love it. 😆 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/24/24 Full Review Mark J It’s so stupid, intentionally I’m sure. I just love it for being so bad. That stop motion is spot on and quite cool for a low budget film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/07/24 Full Review Audience Member It was okay. The acting was meh.
