That was lame and boring. It didn't make me laugh.

A reliably likable comedian turning in a mixed bag of a special. At her strongest, Silverman appears able to generate loud laughter and make some good points by alternating between raunchiness, introspection and acute yet only occasionally insightful sociopolitical comment. But even then, most of the time she treads familiar ground both with her topics of choice and her approach of them. Additionally, the meta bits and her preference for recounting true stories are integrated far from seamlessly.

I didn't laugh out loud even once during this segment, Ricky Gervais for example is controversial and funny at the same time, Sara is just controversial. When did comedy become about touting your politics as opposed to being funny? If you can't do both, focus on the latter, it's why ppl want to hear you. Leave the politics either for when you can fit them in with an actually funny joke or to the experts.

Whether you're a fan of hers or not this is an excellent comedy performance. Consistently funny, silly, thought provoking and at times challenging, she clearly is on top of her game. It's striking how controlled she is, manipulating the audience at will. Give this a go if you primarily just want a good laugh but also if you like mental stimulation in your comedy.

While it's not surprising that A Speck of Dust is so good - Silverman is a great joke writer and one of the all-time joke tellers, particularly skilled at pacing and performing her sets - it is that much more impressive.

It's a performance that reveals there are many levels to Sarah Silverman's abilities, and it might just be her most impressive show yet.

While her jokes don't always stick the landing, and she ends the show on a bit of low note, there is plenty to take away from her performance style and from her self-aware humor.
