Dustin Rowles Pajiba There’s nothing in PostMortem to actively dislike. [Sarah Silverman's] affection for her father is clear and lovely...But the material never really rises to the level of entertaining and falls well short of funny. May 28, 2025 Full Review Anne Brodie What She Said Sarah Silverman’s blue performances ... fused with white hot anger and pain at losing her father and stepmother nine days apart ...It’s a gritty hour and a bit so the faint of heart need not tune in. Rated: 2/4 May 23, 2025 Full Review Sean L. McCarthy Decider This special feels different not only because of the subject matter, as Silverman recounts her last days with her parents, but also for the fact that she mentions she filmed this hour during the middle of her tour. May 21, 2025 Full Review Jonathon Wilson Ready Steady Cut It’s nice when comedy does this, and nicer still when a long-time comedian goes off-brand to do it, because it captures that feeling of evolution that death creates in us all. Marcus K If you are looking for a good time do not watch this. This is podcast material, not comedy. If you are at a similar age to Sarah as I am, it's the time in your life when you loose your parents and that generation and it's painful. Lot's of people have sweet funny stories about their parents but its not comedy for others it's your personal stories to share with friends and family don't package as a comedy special for the masses. We have our own families and stories and grief. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review Kate G Sarah is a gift to the universe. Postmortem is my favorite of her many terrific specials. This one -- discussing the death of her dear dad and stepmom with love, tenderness, sadness, and of course laughter is particularly powerful. It's amazing to me how she can combine these emotions in one hour. She's a master and the world is better place because of her. Thank you so much, Sarah. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review Joe D I found myself smiling at a few of the anecdotes but not really laughing. It’s a nice tribute to her parents but very similar observations that many of us could make about our own parents. Which is fine. Just like this special. It’s fine. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/27/25 Full Review Jay P A nice tribute to her parents. But as a comedy show thats a real stretch. Don't expect a standup routine. It's more like a really nice, slightly funny eulogy thats like an hour. Feel like afterwards I knew a lot more about her parents. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/26/25 Full Review Jon B Sarah has evolved from a shock comic to a humorist. She is now able to distill tragedy into empathetic and perceptive humor in a way that can touch people's hearts while sharing intimate and difficult passages in life. Perhaps it is her successful personal relationship or her age; however, I always felt that she had the potential to evolve to a higher level of performance through greater depth, understanding, and channeling of her natural humor into something more that could be shared with a wider audience. I get why she used the "shock" technique early in her life; however, once the shock wears off, you don't necessarily have anything left. Here in post-mortem, her stories of the passing of beloved people in her life go to the heart of painful passages that we must all attend to. She brings together the heartache with the irony, humor, and inevitable release that such passages create in a way that brings people together in their shared humanity. I look forward to more of this Sarah. Please continue on this path. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/25/25 Full Review Paul P I absolutely love Sarah Silverman, and have been eagerly waiting to watch this on Netflix. However, after 20 minutes l hadn't laughed or found anything humorous. It was more of a speech than a comedy show. I changed to something else. I have no idea how this ends, or why it was written. I did like her clothes; much better than the mid-thigh skirt that was so awkward at her last standup special. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/24/25 Full Review Read all reviews
