Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) Its insightful fascination with a fading way of life in the outback (and a people determined to keep living it as vividly as they can) is a small triumph. Rated: 3/5 Jul 30, 2020 Full Review Ed Gibbs The Sunday Age McKenzie does well to emphasise the cultural impact of modern Australia on the lives of its original settlers, while wisely avoiding political grandstanding. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 16, 2013 Full Review Andrew L. Urban Urban Cinefile A kind hearted exploration of the struggle for self in a complicated world Jun 15, 2013 Full Review Louise Keller Urban Cinefile The distinctive Australian outback setting with its arid landscape, tender pink sunsets and sparkling stars form a rich backdrop for this gentle coming of age story about a young Aboriginal boy who discovers his connection to the land and his roots Jun 15, 2013 Full Review Simon Miraudo Quickflix McKenzie's movie, gorgeously shot and appropriately short, is a charmer, albeit a minor one. Mickey M Wooden acting, clumsy script. Great scenery. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review tony h This film has great breadth & enormous profundity. Don't be fooled by its wonderful sense of fun & light-heartedness; -There's a huge amount going on here, from both sides of the fence. The world really needs to pay attention to this, not just mining companies. Watch it now, but do yourself a big favour: Pay close attention. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A highly enjoyable journey of discovery. One of the best contemporary Aboriginal films I've seen Wallaby as Pete & Pedley as Kalmain are great & Gulpilil is solid as ever. It's just a nice, well made adventure, with some great Western Australian scenery thrown in for good measure. A great score, a bittersweet ending & a good heart make this a should-be-Classic Australian film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Really powerful film in the way they expressed the communication and connection with the spirit of the land. The boys walkabout and personal journey is very touching as well. Loved it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member gorgeous little movie Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member A simple story, elevated by the balance of tradition with the contemporary. It raises issues through subtle symbolism, and without preaching, leaving you inspired but with that slightly uncomfortable feeling of having things to think further about - on the occasions it seemed bad, have I missed something? Right up there with Ten Canoes. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
