Pauline Kael The New Yorker At its best, though, Saturday Night Fever gets at something deeply romantic: the need to move, to dance, and the need to be who you'd like to be. Nirvana is the dance; when the music stops, you return to being ordinary. Sep 18, 2023 Full Review Gene Siskel Chicago Tribune Saturday Night Fever makes good moviemaking seem easy. Rated: 3.5/4 Jan 8, 2018 Full Review Gary Arnold Washington Post Saturday Night Fever assaults you with a flagrantly foul-mouthed script and coarse viewpoint. Dec 21, 2015 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Travolta’s signature dancing and the Bee Gee’s soundtrack epitomized the public’s general impression of the 1977 film, leaving its seedier elements either forgotten, suppressed, or conveniently ignored. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 3, 2023 Full Review Stephen Silver Tilt Magazine Offers one of the best soundtracks in the history of movies, and a star-making performance by Travolta. But it's dark as hell- darker than you probably remember (45th anniversary) Rated: 4.5/5 Dec 27, 2022 Full Review Carey-Ann Pawsey Orca Sound Every so often a film comes around that seems to have its finger on the pulse of society and it makes such an impact that it changes pop culture. Saturday Night Fever was that film in the late 1970s. Rated: 3/5 Nov 13, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Scott Great to have seen it again. Saw it in 1977. Awesome. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/21 Full Review Larry K Epic soundtrack and awesome dancing. Plot was a little too insane. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/25 Full Review Insomniac X A beloved story of wild nights and teenage angst in a working class Brooklyn neighborhood. Reminiscent of "The Last Picture Show" in its depiction of the economic and cultural deterioration of a small community, the film does a sublime job of contrasting the melancholia and tragedy of its subject's everyday lives with the ecstatic release found on the dance floor. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/25 Full Review Knoe F An absolute classic! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/29/24 Full Review Joel H I kind of wish I wouldn't have watched Saturday Night Fever. It's a dated, melodramatic mess. Instead of story, they have strutting. Instead of character development, they have choreography. Instead of dialog, they have dancing. This movie is a joke, but the only funny thing about it is how seriously it takes itself. And there really isn’t anyone to root for. None of the characters are likeable. It’s also a lot more offensive than I anticipated. The soundtrack may be the only good thing that came out of Saturday Night Fever being made and now, after watching it, I like the songs a little bit less. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review CESAR JAVIER F Para mí una película con una trama incomprensible, ahorre al llegar a la mitad ya la apagas, lo único sanbale de ahí es la banda sonora porque de ahí ni Jhon Travolta y su baile lo salva Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
