The denizens of Bikini Bottom are thrown into jeopardy when their home is suddenly scooped out of the ocean and held hostage at a Texas laboratory. At the heart of this sea-nister plot is business tycoon Sue Nahmee (Wanda Sykes), who wants to transform the inhabitants of Bikini Bottom into Sea Pals -- a mass-manufactured product line of cuddly toys. It is up to intrepid squirrel/marine biologist Sandy Cheeks (Carolyn Lawrence) and happy-go-lucky sea sponge SpongeBob SquarePants (Tom Kenny) to find their way to Galveston to rescue their pals and return Bikini Bottom to its rightful place under the sea.

As a lifelong fan of the SpongeBob franchise, I can't believe how bad *Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie* is. This is easily the WORST SpongeBob project ever made. The 3D animation? Cheap and soulless—it doesn’t even come close to the charm of the original. It’s like they slapped it together with no care for the series' legacy. The people behind this clearly don’t understand SpongeBob, and it shows from the very start. SpongeBob’s comedy is supposed to be absurd but clever. Here? It’s just brainless and cringe. And a Sandy spin-off should’ve focused on her Texas roots and her family—logical, right? Instead, we get this messy, nonsensical plot about turning sea creatures into toys. What?! And don’t even get me started on the villain. A grown woman’s head on a child’s body for her origin story? Seriously? It’s lazy, awkward, and just plain weird. I didn’t laugh, I didn’t care about the characters, and I couldn’t believe how much they butchered something I’ve loved for so long. The only reason this gets one star is because it’s technically SpongeBob and there’s a pug in it, and I love pugs. Otherwise, what a disgrace to Hillenburg’s legacy.
