Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle Deliciously ghoulish and inspiringly idiotic. Rated: 3/5 Jun 22, 2023 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Scare Package would be a rather decent horror anthology if only it would stop calling attention to how silly and unserious everything is. Rated: 2/4 Jun 12, 2023 Full Review Alexandra Heller-Nicholas Film International This big dumb kooky ball of blood, goo, and fun is more than merely a package: it's a gift Jun 20, 2020 Full Review Paul Lê Nightmare on Film Street Not everything in this anthology works. The obvious flaws can be itemized and deducted from the overall score, but none of that really matters to the film's target audience. Rated: 8/10 Jul 20, 2023 Full Review Alejandro Turdó Hoy Sale Cine Scare Package shows tons of love for the Horror genre and it never takes itself too seriously, which is always a great plus. It bends the Horror tropes Comedy wise to its favor and manages to get away with murder several times, literally. Rated: 8/10 Jun 16, 2023 Full Review Dan Scully ScullyVision There’s something by and for everybody here, which is indicative of why horror is having such a moment right now. Eric E Very silly, tongue in cheek, meta horror comedy. The casting is great, it's appropriately filled with self referential comedy and inside jokes for horror fans. I liked it a lot. Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but even just the concept of some of the segments was enough to get a chortle out of me. Worth a watch if you like silly ass movies and you're a horror fan. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review London H Super comedic, if you love horror movies and funny movies give it a watch Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/02/23 Full Review Thomas R "Scare Package," a Shutter original that bills itself as a high-brow horror/comedy, is tediously boring and agonizingly unfunny. If you enjoy unrelenting bloodletting, blood-gushing, and blood-slinging, you might like the "ABCs of Death"-like high body count and guttural humor. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/17/23 Full Review graham j This nearly works... there is definitely potential here. Honestly, the horror elements are hit and miss and add comparatively little, and the jokes don't really land but some of the cast and characters are solid. Would have worked better just focused on the three dudes goofing around in the video store (ala Clerks), talking about horror movies. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/11/23 Full Review Steven S I found it amazing with a special mention to the actor who plays chad. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review stan c This meta comedy horror film mostly fails at the comedy part - like not the most talented people behind the camera were trying too hard - but it's worth watching if you like anthologies. While this isn't as original as it thinks it is, the special effects are practical and mostly succeed. There is a ton of blood of gore and one very interesting (and mouthy) pile of goo. Overall, the stories are a mixed bag with some notable standouts - including a cameo from a beloved horror icon. The overarching story has some interesting concepts, including a great scene with a treadmill that explains sooo much in horror movies LOL. And freakin' Dustin Rhodes plays the Devil's Lake Impaler - not the most original Jason ripoff, but once again, this movie isn't as original as it thinks it is. So why this many skulls? It's a campy good time. It plays up the horror tropes while still managing to toss in a few surprises. At the end of the day, I was entertained, which is more than I can say about most other films.
