Ed Gonzalez City Pages, Minneapolis/St. Paul The film's simple beauty lies in the way that Lopes-Curval effortlessly equates life to a passing season. Rated: 3/4 Jan 1, 2004 Full Review Andrew Sarris Observer Along with Ms. Ogier, these four actresses [Fillires, Lizana, Mkal, Rovre] are the best reasons to see Seaside. Aug 15, 2003 Full Review John Anderson Newsday Effective, if less than urgent. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 6, 2003 Full Review Duane Dudek Milwaukee Journal Sentinel A poignant and often charming but always understated look at drifting lives. Rated: 3/4 Feb 11, 2005 Full Review Les Wright culturevulture.net Poles-Curval balances the banal with the sublime in this simply remarkable and very French film. Jun 25, 2004 Full Review Chris Hewitt St. Paul Pioneer Press If you were lolling on the beach, casting your eyes at the scantily clad folks around you and overhearing bits of their conversations, it would be akin to the experience of watching Seaside. walter m "Seaside" gets one thing perfectly right. Namely, what it is like to live in a small, provincial resort village all year round, as it follows a group of characters trapped by one circumstance or another. The bad news is none of the characters are well-defined enough to care about or to even be of much interest.(One of them might have a gambling problem. I think.) All of which significantly lessens any impact this movie might otherwise have had. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member "Seaside" gets one thing perfectly right.
