Great plot, ensemble acting, cinematography, and all the ingredients necessary to make a highly entertaining film. I'm surprised it's not shown on TV more often. Myles Standish St. Louis Post-Dispatch Kramer has given it a pretty production, filming most of it in the picturesque Italian mountain village of Anticoli Corrado, and has extracted excellent performances from a first-rate cast. Jun 15, 2022 Full Review Variety Staff Variety Carrying charm, suspense, romance, the production offers Anthony Quinn at his seasoned best, a plot and unfoldment that holds the spectator. Nov 7, 2007 Full Review Time Out Lost without a message to sledgehammer home, Kramer turned to bombastic comedy with this World War II yarn. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy One of the best actors when it came to serving up ham on wry, Anthony Quinn is at his most animated -- and endearing -- in this adaptation of Robert Crichton’s WWII-set novel. Rated: 3/4 Jul 15, 2023 Full Review Ian Kane Epoch Times “The Secret of Santa Vittoria” is a lengthy (in a good way), fun, and mostly funny drama that features memorable characters, an intriguing plot, and the ever-gorgeous natural scenery of the Italian countryside. Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 25, 2023 Full Review Richard Schickel LIFE [Kramer] strikes me as a director at once tone-deaf and color-blind and compensating for those defects by endlessly kicking us in the slats and gouging us in the eye.
