Thrilling and relentless from start to finish, Yeon Sang-ho's Seoul Station is a layered and vicious entry into the zombie genre.

That leaves us with a solid but less compelling work in his growing filmography that satisfies neither as art or entertainment. Go to Full Review

While not exactly as intriguing and powerful as his previous animated features, Seoul Station still offers visuals and a narrative in perpetual, gripping motion. Go to Full Review

At times it is oppressively morose, but it has a nice dusting of social realism to go with the violence, and reaches an agreeably nasty conclusion. Go to Full Review

Seoul Station succeeds on its unfriendly characters, sustained discomfort and, above all, an unforgiving diagnosis of the moral misery of a society that perhaps was already living its well-deserved Apocalypse inside. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Tyler @Filbus Dec 23 Great blend of 2D and 3D animation, good zombie designs, great social commentary both before and after the zombie outbreak, and it adds upon the zombie rules established by Train to Busan. However, this movie does have its flaws. 1: None of the protagonists shut any doors. 2: The main human antagonist doesn't even try to run away from the main protagonist as she turns into a zombie while he attempts to sexually assault her. 3: Nobody pays attention or has any real survival instinct. See more Justin P 10/29/2024 This was an unbelievably good movie that I could not recommend more to anyone into zombie films and the like, the story is great, animation style in my opinion is also great, the characters all have backgrounds that are either terrible in a way for them or others and the ending is just phenomenal, would watch again and truly recommend to anyone reading this review See more Joshua H 04/27/2024 This movie was amazing. The people hating on it are either mad because it didn't go down some imaginary checklist answering questions about how things led up to train to Busan and/or they're mad it wasn't as good as Train to Busan without judging it as a standalone movie at all. "But there's no answer as to how everything started!". Exactly, because everyone assumed the old man infected was just some homeless guy and refused to help him. Their classist prejudice screwed everyone and left the origin of the virus unsolved. That's the point. That plus the fact that the virus was able to initially spread through the neglected and ignored homeless population. Which makes sense because, let's face it, a virus that has to spread through entering wounds would not spread effectively unless neglected. Other stories related to zombies have had their explanations for how something like this was able to spread so effectively, but this is a pretty original way to go about it. Not to mention effectively carried out. Plus, was it really a super necessary question to answer? What answer could they have given us that we haven't already gotten a million times over?"But the main character's were so unlikeable!". For the most part this is true, but I've honestly never liked this criticism. I guess this can largely be chalked up to a preference, but I don't believe main characters have to be likeable. The reality of the ugly world around us doesn't leave many super likeable heroes to be admired. People also complain about the English voice acting. I didn't experience this because I watched the subbed. So maybe go with that because the voice acting there was actually really good. All in all an interesting story with amazing social commentary and tense, well crafted action scenes. See more Read all reviews
