Justin P This was an unbelievably good movie that I could not recommend more to anyone into zombie films and the like, the story is great, animation style in my opinion is also great, the characters all have backgrounds that are either terrible in a way for them or others and the ending is just phenomenal, would watch again and truly recommend to anyone reading this review Rated 5/5 Stars •  Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Joshua H This movie was amazing. The people hating on it are either mad because it didn't go down some imaginary checklist answering questions about how things led up to train to Busan and/or they're mad it wasn't as good as Train to Busan without judging it as a standalone movie at all. "But there's no answer as to how everything started!". Exactly, because everyone assumed the old man infected was just some homeless guy and refused to help him. Their classist prejudice screwed everyone and left the origin of the virus unsolved. That's the point. That plus the fact that the virus was able to initially spread through the neglected and ignored homeless population. Which makes sense because, let's face it, a virus that has to spread through entering wounds would not spread effectively unless neglected. Other stories related to zombies have had their explanations for how something like this was able to spread so effectively, but this is a pretty original way to go about it. Not to mention effectively carried out. Plus, was it really a super necessary question to answer? What answer could they have given us that we haven't already gotten a million times over?"But the main character's were so unlikeable!". For the most part this is true, but I've honestly never liked this criticism. I guess this can largely be chalked up to a preference, but I don't believe main characters have to be likeable. The reality of the ugly world around us doesn't leave many super likeable heroes to be admired. People also complain about the English voice acting. I didn't experience this because I watched the subbed. So maybe go with that because the voice acting there was actually really good. All in all an interesting story with amazing social commentary and tense, well crafted action scenes. Wanted to like this one, but I can't feel anything for two pimps and a girl who can't even do the minimum how hard would it have been to hit that guy over the head. Omay nvm. But I couldn't understand why she wanted to stay with her boyfriend it was also why she couldn't do anything for him. And more so I was expecting some sorta context as to what happened at biotech how the virus was released how that deer in Ansan contracted the virus what happened when it transferr3d to humans that made animals no longer infected what happened with that deer at the start to train to Susan. It was still good to each and everything but again it fails to capture the heart like a train and leaves more questions than when you started I wasn't to know what happened with that deer in Ansan from the start of the train. Who was patient zero what caused humans to contract it what happened when humans started being infected and animals were not was there a place where both animals and people were getting it? Why did that Go to stay with hi woon even though he was no better than the other guy at the end of the day where does she think that guy started It's good as an animated short if you want a classic zombie movie so will give it that Rated 1.5/5 Stars •  Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Ad un solo mese dal gran successo di "Train to Busan", lo stesso regista dimostra grandissima abilità nel produrre un prequel che soprende tutti per la sua forma animata; confermando inoltre la grande conoscenza di questo stile per il mondo orientale. Seoul Station, bizarrely, was released only a single month after Train To Busan, and it completely fails to do anything better or even equally as well. BTT didn't in any way need a film to explain how the zombie outbreak began, and especially not one this dumb and overwrought. The story is a haphazard collection of zombie movie cliches, with an entirely unnecessary plotline about a runaway prostitute that serves only to pad the runtime. Despite being a prequel that's supposed to explain the beginning of the outbreak, it doesn't. A man turns up in the street with a nasty bite on his neck, and pretty soon turns into a zombie. Who bit him? Where is that person now? How did they become a zombie in the first place? We never find out, and instead have to watch a group of insanely unlikeable characters fight their wave through hordes of the undead, while taking every opportunity to argue with each other. I feel sorry for the voice cast, since about 60% of the characters interactions involve either weeping or yelling. It's incredibly annoying, and ruined any chance I had of connecting with the characters or caring about the story. It's an utterly pointless film that adds nothing to the film that follows it, and I'll be very happy if I never see it again.
