      Critics Consensus

Settlers is serious to a fault, but viewers seeking a non-sensationalistic look at space colonization may find this a rewarding voyage.

Nunya B There's "slow burn" and then there's "can this be over now?" This movie is the latter. Interesting premise. It would probably make a great short story. (Like... five pages?) But as a feature film? No. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/02/23 Full Review Bradley B Typical apocalypse and survival movie where no one works together and all wants to kill each other with no means of success in the end. Just constant fighting instead of helping each other survive. Also bowing to children instead of educating them in the reality of the situation you are in. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Pierre L usual process of culpabilization of Occidentals Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/28/22 Full Review Audience Member An old Plot, never beet told the way this movie delivered. Will leave you thinking days after you watched it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Vilmar G Very slow with no message and weak story. Besides, very sad. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/04/22 Full Review john m A film that runs on atmosphere and quietness, which should work, but it really quickly runs out of any interesting ideas and elements to keep it going. I really love Brooklynn Prince after The Florida Project and she was great in this as well, but there's really nothing here to latch onto after the first 10 minutes. Alex Welch Inverse Wyatt Rockefeller’s slow-burn sci-fi Western will keep you on your toes. Oct 24, 2022 Full Review Larushka Ivan-Zadeh Times (UK) There is life on Mars and it's a godawful small affair, according to this determinedly sombre sci-fi film. Rated: 2/5 Jul 30, 2021 Full Review Linda Marric New Scientist Above all, what sets this production apart from the rest is its unflinchingly honest and bleak view of the human condition. Jul 29, 2021 Full Review Rick Bentley KGET-TV (Bakersfield, CA) This film that looks at life in the frontier of space is painfully frustrating. Rated: 2/5 Aug 10, 2023 Full Review Dallas King Flick Feast Settlers leaves far too many questions unanswered. Ultimately making for a frustrating narrative experience. Rated: 2/5 Nov 12, 2022 Full Review Cheryl Eddy io9.com The characters are carefully constructed to support this bleak vision, with the help of excellent performances all around.
