Joel C Incredibly good thriller. The story follows a man who hits a little girl in his car, the girl was running from her wealthy abusive father who was probably going to kill her anyway. But, the death enrages the father, pretty much because she died from someone else's hands. The way the filmmakers have made this is beyond anything Hollywood is creating and for me is the future of cinema. The camera angles, use of slow motion to create emotion, the soundtrack, and the performances all equal a great piece of art. Justin Lowe Hollywood Reporter Ryu and Jang play the film essentially as a two-hander, but neither invests their characters with enough distinction to inspire much concern for their welfare, even if the fate of their kids evokes a degree of sympathy. Apr 7, 2018 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times "Seven Years of Night" is so oppressively somber that it's hard to handle at times - even when it's working. This is a long, miserable wallow, making audiences feel every dark minute of its title. Apr 5, 2018 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine While a passable diversion for the Korean thriller aficionado, for the general viewer it is more likely a crushing disappointment. Rated: 5/10 Aug 31, 2020 Full Review Chris Knight National Post The result isn't seven years long, but you'll feel every minute of its two hours.
