A week before his marriage to Fiona (Julie Bowen), fast-food executive Roderick (Simon Baker) receives an email with the names of 101 women, 29 of whom he's slept with. Deciding it's a complete list of his sexual history, past through future, Roderick breaks up with his fiancée and begins sleeping with everyone on the list despite the risk that he might die when he's done. Meanwhile, mysterious Death Nell (Winona Ryder), last on the list, is killing men as revenge for her own past ill treatment.

Critics Consensus

Sex and Death 101 aspires to be a clever sex comedy, but has little life behind the sex or the death.

Rated: 1/5 Oct 18, 2008 Full Review John Hartl Seattle Times As a writer, Waters is best-known for creating Ryder's sharp black comedy, Heathers, and Bruce Willis' self-indulgent bomb, Hudson Hawk. As a director, he tends to waste actors, and he fails to establish a consistent comic tone. Steve D A joke, but not a good one. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review Audience Member Definitely pretty stupid but an easy watch that had a few laughs along the way 3.3 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/12/21 Full Review Audience Member I am more than convinced that Simon Baker is really a bad actor. nothing about him makes a movie worth to watch Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Could have been a good movie! Good idea, horrible execution!! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member I didn't think it was predictable. The ending surprised me. The actors were flat though, or just the characters were. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A man's life is turned upside down when he receives an e-mail with the names of the women he has and will ever have sex with and encounters a femme fatale who targets men guilty of sex crime. A deeply flawed attempt at being clever about sex and death. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
