V.A. Musetto New York Post Rated: 2.5/4 Feb 25, 2005 Full Review Ned Martel New York Times Rodrigo Bellott's frenzied but clever first film juggles race, class, jingoism, homophobia, sexual attraction and rape. Rated: 3/5 Feb 24, 2005 Full Review Edward Crouse Village Voice No worse than a tinny artist's statement, but as moviemaking, it's brutally embarrassing, inexcusable. Feb 22, 2005 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide Its power lies in the intense, subtle performances of the ensemble cast and Bellott's ability to keep the tangled narrative threads from becoming a knotted mess. Rated: 3/5 Feb 25, 2005 Full Review David Sterritt Christian Science Monitor The pace of this Bolivia/US coproduction is slower than that of a snail, but it gathers some interest as the themes of the vignettes dovetail near the end. Rated: 2/4 Feb 24, 2005 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews The split-screen effect does nothing to advance the plot, and is more of a distraction than anything else. Audience Member This is the type of film I'll only watch for film class. Few of the story lines kept my interest. The interesting part is how it always shows two points of views of the plot. It is rather nice and unconventional. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Good but not yet great. Stories are made to be common, practical & down to earth by using mainly amateur actors. The 'machismo' turns almost every man in the film to be a dick. Also agreeing the split screen technique is actually not that necessary & somehow distracting & confusing. The segment [Mirror] looks awkward, no good & inconsistent among the others. The ending, however, rounds up well yet thrilling. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member The subject isn't very uncommon. Using split screen to tell a cross-life sexuality story is very unique, however, it is quite annoying, confusing and somewhat unncessary. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member A harsly realistic, moving yet analytical film that handles its very pop subject in a wise and uncompromosing manner. Refreshingly mature and honest. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
