With World War I looming, Robert Conroy, a young Army private, adopts a stray, stump-tailed terrier. Conroy names his new friend Stubby and gives him a home, a family, and a chance to embark on the adventure that would define a century. The two quickly find themselves in the trenches of France and on the path to history. French soldier Gaston Baptiste befriends the man and dog and accompanies them along their epic journey through harsh conditions and incredible acts of courage.

Hats off to the chutzpah of the filmmakers behind this thoughtful if somewhat plodding effort, which will appeal largely to young (or young-at-heart) dog lovers cum budding war historians - not exactly a massive demographic.

My boys (age 6 & 4) absolutely love this movie. Perfect movie for every Memorial or Veteran Day weekend. Great story, and makes it even better that it is true. Highly recommend!

Instead of showcasing the war as it should do, "Sgt. Stubby" wants to simply portray Stubby as a good dog. I like dogs too, but this is too much. At least put some background characters in so we know that it's not just the few main characters fighting the war. Maybe some animated extras. In summation, watch the "Bee Movie" instead, I don't care. Anything but this mess.
