But when said character is a homosexual man who may be falling in love with the wife of his partner's brother, you have to pity the film. Rated: 2/4 Dec 5, 2003 Full Review Liz Braun Jam! R 9 The acting talent make it just minorly watchable, but 'Shake It All About' doesn't have much else going for it. Mads Mikkelsen, Troels Lyby and Charlotte Munck are the standouts when it comes to the actors, I can't really fault them with their performances - all perfectly fine. It's very much the story and the (poor) way it is written that is this 2001 film's issue. The plot is simply a bit rubbish (and even problematic), with any attempt to add flair falling flat. Danish and American viewers, among a couple of others according to JustWatch, seem to have this release openly available to watch, though here in the UK it is nowhere to be seen officially (unless you wanna fork out £28.98 for the DVD on Amazon 🥴)... probably for the best. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is weird. It has some good moments but it makes you hate the main character, and when a happy ending comes around... you don't want it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member SWEET... and actually quite well done to the point that it's not important to have subtitles, which is not easy for non-English movies. However, unfortunately, the movie glosses over too many of the important points to make it really interesting and instead it is another romantic comedy with the the gay twist thrown in for originality. Simply okay, but nothing more Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is really about commitment and the fact you can't always get everything you want. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Bizarre, funny, sad, crazy, insane, emotional, frustrating, all combined into one. The acting was phenomenal. Danish films never cease to disappoint - especially those with Mads Mikkelsen in it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member An unbelievably strange film that I probably would have hated if it was in English. This Danish romantic comedy entry asks the audience to take great leaps of faith in it's characters' non-sensical actions. The same night Jacob asks his long-time partner Jorgen for his hand in marriage, he shares a drunken kiss with Jorgen's sister Caroline. Inexplicably, this leads to a straight affair, tearing apart his gay relationship. When Caroline gets pregnant, Jacob decides to marry her, but changes his mind just before he says "I do" at the altar and chases after Jorgen, hoping to win him back. But Jorgen has escaped to Paris. Jacob chases him to the airport -- the cabs in Copenhagen are on strike, so he kidnaps a cop's horse -- and arrives just as the plane is taking off. He begs the gate attendant to turn the plane around, insisting it is a matter of life, death, and love. Of course, she says it's impossible, but the pilot, who just happens to be Caroline's husband, decides otherwise. Yes, that's really what happens. In an American movie, this plot would be completely ridiculed. Of course, it may have been in Denmark too, but surprisingly, but the charismatic performances, particularly that of the always fabulous Mads Mikkelsen make the whole thing seem okay. Not a masterpiece by any means, but despite the ridiculous plot, it's too sweet to really be bothered by it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
