Audience Member Le manga choc et sans pitié adapté en film, en tout cas la première partie. Pas aussi violent mais passe bien! Sait s'apprécier même sans connaissance du manga. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't know what hapened with this film. During the first 15 minutes, I was on the edge of my seat saying "oh man, this is gonna be good, it's goona be good." and then it kinda just ended soon later. I hated the way they put boxing in this and I know that this is a manga adaption but it starts to get boring with the boxing. All he does is train for his next boxing match, and it's so boring watching him do this shit. Some of the stuff is so unrealistic. I only liked the start where he was in jail, It was entertaining. But once he escaped and went to the real world to go boxing, man it just goes down. I guess you'll like some of the fight scenes, but they go on for too long. The acting was nothing special and the plot was decent to bad. The characters aren't very interesting, and I'd say that the only character I kinda felt for was the sister. So, I don't think this is good movie, but I think the start is good and some of the fight scenes are fun and filmed well. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member You know what's a great idea? Teaching criminals karate! Watching this is great if you have read the manga. Interesting place to stop, but it covers his origin well enough. Would have been nice to have more attention to the strikes, like in the comic. Hopefully the rest of part 2 and all of part 3 will be in the sequel. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a bad action film adapted by the popular manga with Shawn Yue and Francis Ng. There were some cool fight and slow-motion scenes as well as the artistic element in this film worked well for me. There were a lot of random violence, but the movie was about the pain the protagonist had to suffer through, and I thought it was a fine movie. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a really intense, dark and horrifying film, so you could hate it or you could love it, but there's nobody in between. I highly doubt that the guys who wrote and created this film is sane, because it starts with this opening credit scene. It's simple as hell and yet it shows a complete essence within a minute. When you watch Shawn Yue's other films such as "Dragon Tiger Gate" or "Infernal Affairs" or "Velvet Rain", you'll never know he's this good, cuz he's a such a pop icon. I think that he wanted to show he's not a tool for you to make those senseless films-not that I have anything against his films, I love those films-. At the same time, this is an old-school martial arts film. There's this underdog boy, he meets this master that trains him, and he conquers his fears so that he could win his ultimate enemy. This is just a simple film but portrayed by this extreme way. Either you love it or you hate it, you can't deny this is one of its kind. In the end, you'll find out why he "killed" his parents, and you'll be moved by that fact. But they're not tears coming out from your eyes. It's just sweat.
