Audience Member Shaolin Intruders is over the top martial arts craziness! Featuring lots of stylish fights and colourful characters, the movie uses wire-work to add an extra element of fantasy in this murder mystery martial arts film. Derek Yee is top form as the stoic hero, but its his best friend and gambler Yiduo as the comic relief that really steals the show. The film's highlight is the two heroes doing three incredible tasks in order to find out if four assassins are really vicious Shaolin monks. Featuring lots of inventive and stylish set pieces, the film's only fault is that ending battle runs on for too long, and it really starts to feel too dramatic. Besides that, Shaolin Intruders is a very fun and enjoyable martial arts extravaganza. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Tong Gai's sophomore offering "Shaolin Intruders" is the middle entry in a trio of martial arts pictures the action choreographer helmed for Shaw Brothers. Tong, who didn't give up his day job -- lending to the film's many impressive gung fu elaborations -- paces his narrative as if he were directing a 90 minute action sequence. Though it took four writers to conjure up what amounts to little more than a conventional Shaw Brothers yellow robe opera Tong sees to it that you never have to look at your watch. Future romance director Derek Yee stars. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member This is the 2nd of 3 films directed by Tang Chia, who mostly made a career out of being a stunt coordinator for dozens of movies, but wow, I've seen all 3 of his movies now and they're all great. This one doesn't have the most memorable characters or story, but I was still rather shocked by some of the plot developments. The highlight by far though is the EPIC MEGATON of action in here, holy shit! It's great stuff, it's not all the same, it happens in situations that make sense. Loved it!
