Audience Member One of my first Kung Fu Movies. A Shaw Brothers Classic! Rated 5/5 Stars •  Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Shaolin Rescuers is a bit lighter in tone than most Venom Mob flicks, but the 20 minute+ action-fest is worth the light plot and goofy humour. Three menial workers/kung fu masters meet by chance and rescue an injured Shaolin hero from the evil Lama clan. That's about it for plot, on with the fighting. After some hiding and ducking away, the final battle bits five good guys against five badguys, all with different and varying weapon styles. The plot ends on a rather bleak note, but the action is well filmed, and the movie's humour is a nice change of pace. The description above is a little off... this one is pretty light-hearted before the final fight. The leads are friends and always enjoy testing each other and goofing off. This is done in classic, yet cheesy, ways for Hong Kong films, and you have to have likable actors for that to work. There is a whole group of distinctive villains that are far from intimidating, except of course for the always amazing Lu Feng.
