Charles Solomon FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) What a delight this is... Wonderfully silly, very nicely animated, and just a pleasure during the holidays. Dec 21, 2021 Full Review Polly Conway Common Sense Media As usual for an Aardman production, this dialogue-free treat is filled with creative delights, gorgeous stop-motion animation, and oodles of delightful details. Rated: 5/5 Dec 8, 2021 Full Review Mattie Lucas In Review Online [The film] isn't breaking any new ground here, but the level of sophistication of its humor can be disarming, deftly balancing slapstick and sight gags with clever deep cuts. BJ L Every bit of this movie is chocked full of cute and brilliant images. A great story for all ages. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review Jay W Shaun the Sheep has always been a charming good time. Aardman Animation has an illustrious background in the field of stop motion. Stuff like "Chicken Run" and "Wallace and Gromit" this studio knows how to animate a fun joke. This Christmas special continues their quality legacy. There is some cartoon logic that goes a little too far. The titular "Flight" is a bit underwhelming. I think the movie just wanted a Christmas pun in the name. And I imagine this same story could have been told perfectly fine in 20 minutes. Much like the series, and other films, Shaun the Sheep almost exclusively uses visual humor with no dialogue. In other hands, doing a joke with no words could be tricky. But this is a talented group of writers and animators who know how to sell a joke. The simple clear motivations and likable characters make this film a delight for all ages. There is one joke in particular that had me laughing annoyingly loud. This movie is a Christmas gift I'm happy to have unwrapped. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/02/24 Full Review Peter-Paul J You can be deaf and this lil' short would be no different. That's how good it is. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/03/24 Full Review Linda M I just love the sheep's mouths. They just make me laugh. They are adorable and the story is sweet. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review matthias s "Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas" is a festive treat that wraps you up in classic Aardman charm with high-flying Christmas vibes. While the story might be as thin as Santa's sleigh, it manages to soar just enough to keep you engaged. This flick might not have you rolling on the floor laughing, but it'll sprinkle enough chuckles to warm your heart. There's nothing bad about it, yet it doesn't quite ascend to masterpiece status. It comfortably nestles in the 'mid but entertaining' category. Clocking in at 30 minutes, it's the perfect length for a Christmas special; long enough to spread cheer, short enough to hold attention. It's a decent watch, but as a Christmas special, it's a jingle bell delight. If you're in need of some feel-good, festive animation that embraces the spirit of the season without taking itself too seriously, Shaun and the gang deliver just that. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/06/23 Full Review Daniel B An absolute delight. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
