Andrew Joe D This movie is charming. I liked the 60s jazz and the artistic camera work. At times it almost seems like a reflection of a time and place and the magic of life that existed there. The main character is mysterious enough, and the cinematography is lovely. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/24 Full Review Audience Member This poor 1960s film borrows heavily from the 1930 horror classic ‘Freaks’, but absolutely no where near as good. The more interesting parts of this movie are those that show the setup and tear-downs of the rides, tents and booths of a real traveling carnival back in the 60s, but even those scenes eventually become tedious, as they seem to be there just to fill movie time due to lack of story. I give it 2 stars as bad as it was, cause it did keep me strangely engaged throughout Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/22/22 Full Review dave s Straight out of the David Friedman school of horrible filmmaking comes She Freak, a movie totally devoid of any kind of redeeming values. A blatant rip-off of Tod Browning's Freaks, a woman takes control of a circus freakshow and before you can say ‘step right up', she is transformed into one of the featured attractions. The movie is stretched to feature-length status by a series of pointless and repetitive montages, all accompanied by a cheesy pop/jazz music score. It also features bad acting, ridiculous dialogue, horrible cinematography including a steady stream of poorly framed shots, choppy editing (including a bunch of odd jump cuts), baffling continuity, and a long list of additional issues. She Freak is a candidate for the worst movie ever made. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Possibly the most boring depiction of carnival life ever put on film. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This was so super weird you had to keep watching....terrible movie though. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review eric b A horrible, no-budget ripoff of Tod Browning's carny-classic "Freaks." The ending is essentially revealed at the start, which is possibly a good move -- there's a modest degree of suspense about how the curvy star will mutate into a monster. The gal kinda looks like a cross between Elke Sommer and Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon. The dire shortage of plot is covered by exasperating/hilarious overuse of montage sequences. Loads of aimless carnival scenery, inevitably backed by a swinging vibraphone-jazz combo who seemingly worked harder than anyone else involved. If you tune in late and just catch the final 15 minutes, you'll extract all the entertainment "She Freak" has to offer. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
