Critics Consensus

Despite its charming young leads, She's All That can't overcome its predictable, inconsistently funny script.

Entretenimiento C It Is in fact like a lot of fellow reviewers say so this teen movie Is so rooted in our pop vulture and Is well deserved place in our minds and hearts. Rachael Leigh my dear Lively crush Is so beautifil and gorgeous AND bright here along with Freddy Prince who charms. Rachael Is the movie. Kieran Is cool. So many known talents to recognice from the late Paul Walker to Sarah Michelle Gellar as extra AND Freddy s future. Good plot, story AND teen angst plot. By the way the sequel Is almost good but they made Lanney a mom AND nurse such bad choice as a subplot? She had a awesome future ahead. Bad plotting Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/13/25 Full Review BadNews R She’s All That has become a cult classic over the years, though not necessarily because it’s a flawless film. In fact, the movie is messy in a lot of ways—direction-wise, script-wise, and even in its core message. But sometimes a good mess can still be entertaining, and that’s exactly what this film offers. It’s not perfect by any stretch, but it’s the kind of lighthearted teen flick that remains fun to revisit every once in a while. The biggest issue, of course, is that it doesn’t age particularly well. The entire premise hinges on the idea that in order to win the boy, the girl has to completely transform herself—an outdated and shallow setup by today’s standards. Looking back, the movie feels backwards in its messaging, but at the time, it fit right into the late-90s teen rom-com formula. That said, the cast is what makes the movie work and gives it the cult following it still has today. Freddie Prinze Jr. does a decent job as Zack, the popular guy who makes the infamous bet. Rachael Leigh Cook brings charm to her role as Laney, even if the script doesn’t always do her justice. Paul Walker is always a welcome presence, and it’s bittersweet seeing him in these early roles. Then there’s Matthew Lillard, who completely steals scenes with his quirky, over-the-top energy that adds much-needed comedy to the film. Watching it now, She’s All That feels more like a nostalgic time capsule than a great movie. It represents an era when teen rom-coms were everywhere and often followed the same formula. For fans of that time period, it still hits the spot as a guilty pleasure. But for newer viewers, it’s hard to ignore the outdated elements and clunky storytelling. The sequel, He’s All That, only made things worse, proving that sometimes these stories should be left in the decade where they worked best. Still, She’s All That has its place. It’s not eye-catching or deeply memorable, but it holds enough nostalgia to keep people coming back. I personally don’t find myself rewatching it often—I think I’ve only seen it about three times in total—but every time it pops up on a streaming service, I understand why people still hold onto it. Overall, She’s All That is a cute, occasionally charming mess. It’s not a film I’d highly recommend to everyone, but for those who grew up with it—or who love late-90s teen movies—it has a special kind of staying power. Sometimes, nostalgia is enough to keep a movie alive. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/10/25 Full Review Valerie D Cult classic. Everyone’s feel good movie. A movie that every teen movie has tried to capture and recreate. Loved it so much ❤️ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/17/25 Full Review Addy B. Sweet romance movie but whats with that one scene with the oompa loompas 🤔 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/05/25 Full Review Audience Member It does the job. It’s entertaining. It’s no academy level film but you should not expect it to be. Good music, very 90s, funny and dramatic, good looking people, and even an epic dance number.
