Teresa B Awful framed as art. Slow paced movie about a intimacy coach and her bad client. This movie throws too much at the viewer that doesn't matter (cryo-storing eggs with no explanation, landlord-tenant issues) and not enough substance on the main issues of the film. Add to it all, a very bad ending after an assault a worker such as this should have training in. A waste of time. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/23 Full Review Audience Member When silence and innuendo works as hard or even harder then dialogues and story. Very clever decision. And strong camera, editors and actors work. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The ending fucking sucked. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed this slow paced and detailed look at the life and work of a sex therapist. Brooke Bloom brought a quiet intensity to her portrayal and was at all times believable. I would recommend this thoughtful exploration of the complicated world of personal and professional intimate relationships. Brooke Bloom brol intensity to the role and Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Sex-therapists are human beings too. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a very slow paced, very dull drama, but at the same time it manages not to be boring. Once you get to the ending, it becomes clear it's one of those films you watch and you can't help but to feel distanced from it and you won't remember much of it in a couple of days. On the surface Ronah is a behavioral psychologist getting her masters as a sexual surrogate, but deep down she's living proof of the saying "Those who can't do, teach". She's trying to teach sexual intimacy to the men she works with, yet she can't have any intimacy that is non sexual in her real life - a life that seems to be very gray and emotionally unfulfilling. It's an "okay" film. I don't esteem it highly. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times "She's Lost Control" is a quiet triumph, a true herald of a distinctive and necessary voice in cinema. Jun 4, 2015 Full Review Drew Hunt Chicago Reader First-time writer-director Anja Marquardt paints a pointed, emotionally honest portrait of a woman detached from the public yet unable to avoid such typical life problems as a dysfunctional family and a straitened financial situation. May 14, 2015 Full Review Stephen Holden New York Times "She's Lost Control" sustains a mood of deepening alienation, but the attitude of the movie is too detached for it to be emotionally gripping, and its ending is botched. Mar 19, 2015 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) Marquardt crafts a tone akin to the paranoid thrillers of the 1970s. Feb 13, 2024 Full Review CJ Sheu Review Film Review Kudos to casting director Allison Twardziak, because Bloom is perfect in the role. May 26, 2021 Full Review Carey-Ann Pawsey Orca Sound In her directorial debut, Anja Maquardt brought some darkness in a story which on the surface didn't seem like it would go that way.
