In this fact-based biopic, rocker Johnny O'Keefe (Terry Serio) begins his career in the early 1950s, in the squalid little clubs of small-town Australia. He later hooks up with American entrepreneur, drug addict and general sleazeball Lee Gordon (John McTiernan), who elevates Johnny to big venue concert dates that ultimately make him a musical superstar in Australia. However, Gordon's greedy ways and Johnny's troubled family life threaten to derail the singer's blossoming career.
