The film has a clever dodge for avoiding the inevitable silly moment when the aliens are revealed but, in a few too many scenes, this is a bit more snore than awe. Go to Full Review

It is a fantasy, but it’s more confrontational than escapist. It doesn’t want us to turn our brains off. It wants us to think. Go to Full Review

3.5/5
Consisting mostly of rocket scientist conversations about astrophysics, 'Signal One' is nevertheless far more intriguing than anything in 'Disclosure Day.' Go to Full Review

It’s fascinating to see how low-budget science fiction explores more obscure and interesting stories than blockbusters like the recently released Disclosure Day. Go to Full Review
Charles Johnston Spectrum Culture Jun 8
A trippy, eccentric sci-fi film, more thought-provoking than entertaining, that eschews easy tropes to deliver upon its urgent message as clearly as possible. Go to Full Review

Signal One is a sci-fi flick of modest ambitions, aware of its scope and what it can and can’t pull off Go to Full Review

Jason M @Nautius Jul 12 Very good, cerebral movie! It is the classic "could we" versus "should we". It intelligently challenges our concept of what we think think is alien and completely dismantles it. See more Ayatollah of D @RT42595533 Jul 7 Awesome movie. Cerebral. See more Claudio C @Claudio666 Jul 6 Draw From the Well of Contact (12,552–05 Jul 2026) The billionaire Sam Houston hires the computer scientist Annika Kask and the engineer Charlie Kaminsky to help the physicist Perry Glassner in his research of communication with alien lives on a Caribbean island. They learn that aliens are contacting with us, and they try to decipher the signal. When Charlie fixes the Litllemouth device developed by Perry, they decide to reply without knowing the meaning of the signal against the will of Annika. Soon life on Earth is affected by a blackout and a manifestation on the Caribbean sky. "Signal One" (2026) is a smart Canadian sci-fi that initially draws from the well of "Contact" (1997). Then the story is based on The Dark Forest Theory, which basically states that we have not found any evidence of alien life because the universe is a hostile "dark forest" where civilizations hide in silence to avoid being destroyed by more advanced predators. My vote is six. Title (Brazil): Not Available See more captain S @CaptainScarlet Jul 4 Just finished watching this interesting movie, really enjoyed it. Sending messages into space has been covered many times so it was fascinating to see how this storyline panned out. Enjoyed the ending, had a story to tell and passed an otherwise dull Saturday afternoon. David Thewlis is once again suitably vile. See more Yuli N @RT12262611 Jun 30 Well, a sci fi movie (almost) without violence is great. The plot is rather simplistic, perhaps cartoonish, but serves the purpose of brain stimulating and thinking a bit out of box. I think this is what sci fi should do. Had a nice evening. See more Rick F @RT26997728 Jun 25 Movie has potential but the simplification of the scientific concept makes it hard to watch. Also , Isabelle and Josh acting is horrible.. whoever casted them for these roles should not be allowed to do casting again See more Read all reviews
