Ellen E Jones Guardian You can see the "something for everyone" logic, but there is nothing fast or furious about the many scenes of pre-race peacocking, while the GoPro car interior shots are unpleasantly reminiscent of Top Gear. Rated: 2/5 Aug 17, 2021 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse "Geran" is a great action movie, that thrives both on the martial arts aspect, but also on context, in a trait not so frequently associated with the action category, but something Malaysian cinema seems to have the knack for Rated: 7/10 Jan 6, 2022 Full Review Carolyn Hinds But Why Tho? A Geek Community [Areel Abu Bakar] has a great eye as a cinematographer for landscape shots and filming action scenes, and with a bit more polish on his scripts and story development, he definitely has a great career ahead of him, and so does his cast. Rated: 6/10 Jul 20, 2021 Full Review Jacob Oller Paste Magazine There's just never much driving Silat Warriors forward, even if the film has a kitchen-sink shooting style that lends its water-treading an endearing DIY feel. Rated: 5.9/10 Jul 6, 2021 Full Review Douglas Davidson Elements of Madness ... Silat Warriors frustrates as audiences can see almost all of Bakar's ideas on screen despite a lack of flow bringing it all together. Rated: 2/5 Jul 6, 2021 Full Review Josh Bell Crooked Marquee The action is swift, exciting, and clever. Rated: B- Jul 6, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Iko Uwais increased my interest in Silat and Indonesian martial arts films. This is a low budget film. Not terrible. Some decent martial arts but also some very badly filmed fight choreography with stunt doubles. Clearly a low budget film so expectations were low and met. A little talky. A little boring. The subtitle choices were very difficult to read due to size and font. Really for those that just can't get enough martial arts action. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Do not be fooled by the epic trailer with fast paced, bone crunching action. This movie is boring for several reasons. The limited action through the first three acts is stale and poorly edited. The final 25 minutes however, are a vast improvement. The actual star of the film takes the spot light and he is quite talented. I'd love to see him in any other movie. The final act improves but it fails to reach a level high enough to make the film worth watching in its entirety. Watch the final 25 minutes, and that it.
