As the group comes together, it feels like old times -- but behind all of the laughter and merriment, something is not quite right. The world outside is facing impending doom, and no amount of gifts, games or Prosecco can make mankind's imminent destruction go away. Surviving the holidays just got a lot more complicated.

Silent Night is not your topical dark comedy as it apocalyptic scenario in the mix that makes for great character conversations and breakdowns. It’s just how the film resolves those questions and moral decisions that makes the 2nd half feel hollow

The characters are awesomely hillarious and very well put together. They captured my attention throughout the film. The ending was a little predictable, but suits the movie well. I love the dark humor and the movie sends out an important message/lesson.

There are a lot of apocalyptic movies lately. Sign of the times, we will hopefully say if we get to look back on it. This is one of the best. Unless you're not like me in which case you won't like it. But that's true of all reviews.

"Silent Night" presents a Christmas apocalypse, where the real horror isn't the toxic cloud approaching the characters but the toxic personalities at the dinner table. This group of upper-middle-class individuals are so unbearable that the end of the world seems more like a relief than a tragedy. The film showcases an idealized, yet nauseating, version of country living, laced with forced cheerfulness and self-satisfaction. Despite attempts to inject energy with constant swearing and infidelity revelations, the movie remains tedious as it awaits the poison cloud. The film's environmental message and social commentary feel clumsy and heavy-handed, making it even more unbearable. Director Camille Griffin suggested a trigger warning for shocking scenes, but the entire film could have used one for its relentless smugness and emotional trauma. Ultimately, "Silent Night" tries to reflect the anxieties of early lockdown but ends up feeling like a punishment to watch.

Wow.. this is one of the saddest movies I’ve seen in a while apart from “The End We Start From” and “Leave The World Behind.” It’s rotten in that it seems like it could actually happen. I watched it by myself and wished I would have at least watched it with my husband.. but then I wouldn’t have wanted him to see it as it’s just too dark. Yikes. That one will stick with me for a while. I am concerned about how it will mentally affect the kids that were in it. One was the directors Son!
