From producers Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman franchise), Trudie Styler (Moon) and Celine Rattray (The Kids Are Alright), Silent Night follows parents Nell (Keira Knightley) and Simon (Matthew Goode) who have invited their closest friends to join their family for Christmas dinner at their idyllic home in the English countryside. As the group comes together, it feels like old times -- but behind all of the laughter and merriment, something is not quite right. The world outside is facing impending doom, and no amount of gifts, games or Prosecco can make mankind's imminent destruction go away. Surviving the holidays just got a lot more complicated.

Amy Nicholson FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) This is one of the darker Christmas movies I've ever seen, and I quite enjoyed it for a while. Dec 21, 2021 Full Review Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard Silent Night has something to irk everyone. Still, viewers prepared to be patient will be rewarded. Rated: 3/5 Dec 11, 2021 Full Review Tim Grierson Screen International Despite a game cast led by Keira Knightley, the film never snaps into sharp enough focus, ultimately blunting the story's barbs and bleak message. Dec 11, 2021 Full Review Jackson Weaver CBC News As one of the first true climate catastrophe comedies — it details a dinner party hours ahead of the apocalypse — there's little out there to compare [Silent Night] to. It's sure to keep you engaged — assuming you can laugh along to the end of the world. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 16, 2023 Full Review Samuel Leggett Jr. JVS Media & Productions/Team JVS Silent Night is not your topical dark comedy as it apocalyptic scenario in the mix that makes for great character conversations and breakdowns. It’s just how the film resolves those questions and moral decisions that makes the 2nd half feel hollow Rated: 6/10 Dec 26, 2022 Full Review Cate Young Thirty, Flirty + Film "Silent Night is a darkly funny take on the inevitability of climate collapse and the fecklessness of the world’s powers in the face of combatting a problem of their own making." Logan D Parents Nell (Keira Knightley and Simon (Matthew Goode) have invited old friends to their home for Christmas dinner. However, everyone knows there's a dark undercurrent to the gathering. I went into this blind and thus unaware of the twist in the film. There are humorous moments but nothing like the dark comedy of such films as After Hours. But I found it enthralling observing how all the characters deal with their circumstances. And that ending, emotional. Highly recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/08/25 Full Review Brandon D The actors are excellent and I tend to like darker films, but this is the most depressing thing I've seen in a long time. If your idea of a good movie is a 2-hour suicide/mass extinction event at Christmas, including of children, go for it. It's not clear what the point is - the world is dying on poison gas and that's about it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/27/24 Full Review Jameson C This movie is better than what most people are saying. It has a lot to say, and it's rather deep when you think about the details that are poured into it. The acting is solid imo, and overall great child actors. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/27/24 Full Review Chris M Watched the first 15 minutes and then turned it off. Waste of time when you see how 2 faced all the characters are. I like a Christmas movie that is a feel good type of movie, not this drama queen-centric crap. Star cast should have passed on this one. The popcorn meter on this is dead right!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/23/24 Full Review Jessie Y Great premise but played it out bad, acting was bad, jokes were bad. I just wish they played it out better Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/23/24 Full Review Nicole R The characters are awesomely hillarious and very well put together. They captured my attention throughout the film. The ending was a little predictable, but suits the movie well. I love the dark humor and the movie sends out an important message/lesson.
