When Billie, a young African-American Civil War reenactor freshly out of jail, learns that her estranged parents' lives are at risk, she tries to help them by robbing a bank. In her botched robbery attempt, she takes a hostage named Franny, who turns out to be a charmingly impulsive pregnant teenager with nothing left to lose. Together, Billie and Franny embark on a twisted electric chase through scenic American landscapes, clashing and struggling for common ground in hopes for a brighter future.

Silver Star is a strange drama that never quite finds its footing. The story follows a pregnant woman who teams up with another young woman, and while the premise hints at something meaningful, the film never develops into anything memorable. I kept expecting the story to build toward a stronger payoff, but instead it remained slow, unfocused, and increasingly bland. The screenplay feels scattered, with scenes that rarely connect in a satisfying way or create much emotional impact. I also felt the performances were overly exaggerated at times, making several moments feel forced rather than believable. Instead of becoming invested in the characters, I found myself waiting for the movie to finally find its direction, but it never really does. Overall, Silver Star isn’t an awful film, but it’s one that never rises above being average. For me, it’s a forgettable streaming movie that lacks the creativity, emotion, and engaging storytelling needed to leave a lasting impression.
