      Jordan Mintzer Variety Though Lights Out initially aims at something vaguely disturbing, its rather lightweight resolution all too neatly ties up the trajectories of characters who remained compelling as long as their lives seemed messy and real.       Audience Member Nous sommes en 1992. Dans un lycée de campagne, Simon Werner a disparu. Ses camarades s'interrogent : fugue, meurtre, suicide ? Les allégations vont bon train quand disparaissent un deuxième puis un troisième élève. Un serial killer ? Mais où est Simon ? Simon Werner a disparu est plus un début de phrase déclenchant diverses réactions parmi ses camarades de classe. Si un petit suspense reste permanent pendant tout le film, ce n'est pas ici une histoire d'enquête cherchant réellement à savoir ce qui est arrivé à Simon, mais plutôt une étude sociologique sur la vie adolescente face à un incident les touchant plus ou moins directement. Originale car adoptant différents points de vue pour des situations similaires (la caméra embarquée pour Simon est bien trouvée), l'histoire permet de mettre le doigt sur les rumeurs et les faits. Cependant la non-fin entraine une frustration qui ne peut s'ignorer. Zut. Cada história complementa a outra e os espaços em branco vão sendo preenchidos à medida que o filme avança. A estética indie é eficiente e fresca, e o andamento do filme é bastante intrigante, mesmo que a fórmula das histórias cruzadas pareça demasiado gasta. "Simon Werner a disparu" esconde algumas revelações que importa conhecer, mas deve tanto a Gus Van Sant que nunca deixa de parecer um derivado de "Elephant" ou "Paranoid Park". A banda-sonora ficou a cargo dos Sonic Youth, que terão sido fundamentais para o filme ter tido uma maior projecção. São uns Sonic Youth em modo atmosférico com espaço para uma ou duas canções temáticas.
