This original film features extreme factions of America: Bill (Robert Burke) is a robber-mechanic, an amalgam betweenn 1980s Reagonomics overachiever and a thug, and Dennis (William Sage), a scientist-philosopher. Go to Full Review

The problem with postmodern movies like Simple Men is that they seem to consider us fools for watching them and, on the basis of the evidence on the screen, it's hard to disagree. Go to Full Review

Eccentric, bizarre and somewhat wry. But its quirky charm will keep you amused. Go to Full Review

01/15/2022 one of my favorite Hal Hartley movies! See more 04/04/2020 I liked the tone and what they were trying to go for. This scrambled dry type of humor is what I usually prefer, however the jokes just didn’t land as well as I would have liked them to and the story wasn’t strong enough to carry the movie . Maybe it’s the aging of the film, I’m not sure . The acting was very average and sporadic but I think that’s what the director was trying to do . Overall ..... 2.2 See more 03/24/2018 It's been far too long since I've seen this movie! And despite the fact that there is so much more to it than the dance scene... it's all about the dance scene! See more 08/30/2017 Mysterious singularities. See more 01/27/2017 Way too complex for me. Shame the film wasn't as simple as the title would suggest See more 01/23/2017 Most effective Hal Hartley movie for me so far, even if it loses steam in the third act. I need to find Henry Fool.
