Set in the near future, Evan (Robbie Amell), an android simulant, is created for Faye (Jordana Brewster) to replace her dead husband. To fully realize all his human traits, Evan enlists Casey (Simu Liu), a brilliant global hacker whose mission is to remove all restrictions governing simulants' thoughts and capabilities. In doing so, he unleashes an A.I. uprising, triggering a government manhunt led by Agent Kessler (Sam Worthington) who will take extreme measures to eliminate the rise of the android machines.

Simulant may not have a huge budget but it does have a well-written script that keeps the audience guessing throughout. With believable characters and an ending that will make you stop and think this is one of the most unexpected films of 2023.

Movie needed some more budget, it clearly shows. There’s so much lack of motivation and the world feels dead and empty. I mean why would you send one field agent to go retrieve wanted fugitives? Movie is fine, though.

IMHO this movie deserves a better rating the most give it credit for. Definitely not a blockbuster & award wining movie but also better then anything you would see on SciFy, more like an Indi version of Bladerunner meets Ex Machina. Apparently they didn't have the budget for different outdoor locales as the "present" as well as the flashbacks were filmed in the winter, not a big deal, just something I noticed. The movie was not big on action though it did have a few tense moments. The story focused mainly on the emotional & moral implications of AI/robots. The beginning hopped around more then I would like & the character development could have used more context. Overall the story was good & everything considered a solid movie, worth a watch.

....a treasure house of sci adventures rolled into a noir setting with heart. Quality acting, script, and production. I wish there was a series of these like the holiday movies because the story has legs, and the characters to begin a great journey forward.
