A gorgeous secretary, Marge Winton (Marion Davies) keeps losing jobs since she has to fend off the affections of a series of bosses. Growing weary of this cycle, Marge decides to appear considerably less attractive in hopes of holding on to a job. Soon she is assigned to work for Freddy Matthews (Robert Montgomery), an unfocused novelist. Tasked with getting Freddy to stick to a deadline, Marge begins to fall for the writer, but the feeling isn't initially mutual, given her frumpy guise.
