Audience Member Novica's character is not well developed enough; his transition from geek to hooligan seems fake and messy, and nothing seems to really make sense, chronologically wise. Things happen way too fast to hold any substance. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member What a pile of pig vomit. Set in the Serbian skin head world, a young math genius in one short week becomes the leader of a football hooligan firm. I would have turned it off but it was actually funny watching it as the Serbs were dubbed with cockney accents. Avoid. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Serbian heavily subsidized skinhead-flick. The movie is less preachy and less predictable than skinhead-flicks like AHX and Romper Stomper. The movie is more about the idea that hooligans are useful idiots who are controlled by a vast right wing conspiracy of the state and the intelectuals. Serbian Edward Furlong gets recruited by Serbian Rusell Crowe, and quickly becomes fanatical and takes over the group. Committing some actual hate crimes instead of using swastikas for shock value. He gets to bone Serbian Fairuza Balk, who is hotter than American-Persian Fairuza Balk. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Great Serbian film... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Very interesting movie... not because of the real message but because of the well wrapped message of the real politics! The dramatic opening is the actual news footage of protests in front of the American embassy in Belgrade and this news footage is intercut with shots of the movie's main character, skinhead Novica, protesting by leading chants and lighting flares in front of the embassy while he's also providing narration. The story than backs up as Novica (Nikola Rakočević), a timid and geeky high school student from Belgrade (with very weird hairstyle) is introduced. It is a sad but extremely violent story and some images could disturb the audience, but that is Balkan... at least you'll have a chance to see how the real life could be - with lots of violence and some scenes for over 18 years old. I will recommend this movie for any parents raising a teenager... especially the ones with talented kids! In this movie you can see that the line between genius and madness is very, very thin. All you need that thin line to be crossed is injustice and wrong crowd offering a "solution" - their right-wing political agenda through racist chanting, violence, and hooliganism is just an image which seems sometimes attractive to young minds! If you want a film that comes out of dark and divides nationalism and false patriotism from violence and anarchy - there is the right choice for you! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member I caught this on the very first day of the 2011 Raindance Festival in London, and it is a compelling tale of racism and corruption within Serbia. The transformation the lead character makes halfway through the film is fascinating. You can barely tell it's the same actor. A great performance.
