Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) Barlow and Kane Senes, the film’s co-writers and co-directors, slip easily between satiric humour and gory ramifications. They get the genre’s conventions, but with Dee’s committed performance leading the way, they refuse to simply accept them. Jun 14, 2023 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald It’s far from perfect, but it has a fresh tone and the desire to take risks. Rated: 3/5 Nov 3, 2022 Full Review Luke Buckmaster Guardian Impressively unpredictable all the way to the bitter end – a very difficult and commendable achievement, in a genre as coded and conventionalised as horror. Rated: 4/5 Nov 1, 2022 Full Review Aaron Murray Loud and Clear Reviews Kane Senes & Hannah Barlow’s Sissy is a fun and violent social media thriller with an outstanding lead performance at the helm from Aisha Dee. Rated: 4/5 Jan 18, 2025 Full Review Isabella Liistro Loud and Clear Reviews Garish, bloody, and thematically rich, Sissy is an underappreciated horror gem. Jan 18, 2025 Full Review Tina Kakadelis Beyond the Cinerama Dome Sissy is a fun, gory slasher flick that’s perfect for sleepovers and viewings with large groups of friends. If anything, Sissy could have gone further in its reflections on the enduring effects of childhood bullying. Jul 24, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Claudio C Sissy (2022) A Great Slasher by Shudder (11,710 –22 May 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) In Australia, when they were twelve years old, Sissy (Amelia Lule) and Emma (Camille Cumpston) are best friends and make a time capsule. On the day of Emma’s birthday, the envious Alex (April Blasdall) bullies Sissy, calling her “Sissy, the sissy”, and she reacts. On the present days, Sissy is the successful influencer Cecilia (Aisha Dee), who has 200,000 followers, and sells beauty products and meditation in her channel. When she is at a pharmacy, Emma (Hannah Barlow) stumbles upon Cecilia and recalls their friendship. She invites Cecilia to her wedding party with Fran (Lucy Barrett) in the same night, and presents Cecilia to her friends. Completely drunken, she invites Cecilia to her bachelorette party. Cecilia goes to the place where they buried the time capsule and retrieves it, to give to Emma as a wedding gift. On the next morning, Emma, Fran, their friends Jamie (Daniel Monks), who is handicapped and snobbish, Tracey (Yerin Ha) and Cecilia travel in a van to a remote area. When they arrive in a fancy house, Cecília learns that it belongs to Alex (Emily De Margheriti), who treats Cecilia very bad. Soon the relationship of the ”friends” is affected with tragic recollections and consequences. “Sissy” (2022) is a great slasher by Shudder, with an original story. The dramatic plot is not predictable, and the screenplay is very well written. The plot does not use the usual cliches of slashers and has great performances. The actress Hannah Barlow, who performs the lesbian Emma, directs and writes the screenplay together with Kane Senes in a great work. Aisha Dee is perfect in the role of the disturbed Cecilia and Emily De Margheriti performs a great villain. The ending is totally unexpected and shows how people shall not trust in influencers or Internet information without checking. My vote is seven. Title (Brazil): “A Assediadora” (“The Haresser”) My Blog: https://maniacosporfilme.wordpress.com/ Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/23/25 Full Review RZ u Had a blast watching this! It was the perfect horror/black comedy combo without unintentionally being like "Scary Movie" levels of absurdity. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/25 Full Review Audience Member Dunno how this got such high reviews. Logic and character-development is broadly missing, acting is descent but in many ways not able to pull the story together. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/25 Full Review Anne A One of the worst movie i've ever watched. Full of tropes, uninteresting, i had high hopes because the premise of a vengeance story is always exciting but what a dissapointment. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Audience Member Mildly entertaining. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/17/24 Full Review Pasquale u Absolutely dreadful with such amateur acting. I thought with the high rating I'll give it a watch. Complete utter trash Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/10/24 Full Review Read all reviews
