Esther (Kerry Noble) is a saddened teenager stricken with cerebral palsy who's lived under state care most of her life. Even the return of her estranged father, John (Bernard Hill), doesn't lighten her mood, until he tells her the story of the legendary Skallagrigg, a creature that is said to protect the disabled. John then takes Esther on an outing in search of the benign beast, giving his daughter her first taste of freedom in years. And slowly, father and daughter begin to accept one another.
