Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is a beautifully filmed documentation of what a few people with a heart and a little foresight can accomplish. Noticing that their love for skateboarding caught the attention of the kids of a war torn country, where children don't have much of a chance to actually be children, and using that intrigue as a way to change the kids lives and offer opportunity in many positive ways..... This is not only a heartwarming story, but a great educational and inspiring film as well! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. It is so well done! The stories of the children in Afghanistan are so important, the images in this film are so powerful. A must see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member I saw this film at the Los Angeles Film Festival and can not recommend it more! Just to see how something we take for granted can have such an impact on the youth in this film, is inspiring and moving beyond. It's definitely a must see! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Saw this film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, and loved it so much I had to go see it at the Los Angeles Film Festival! The scenes that are shown of Afghanistan are very different than other films because you don't just get shown a bunch of ugly war-torn areas; you see beautiful scenery that has been affected by war: old palaces, old fountains and more. The way that the film captures the beauty of this war-torn country is done really well. The interviews with all of the characters are great, as the viewer gets a chance to understand where each person is coming from- even visiting some of the characters in their homes with their families, and in their schools and jobs. The way that the film follows Skateistan from an idea to a physical facility by introducing us to the children, adults and even professional skateboarders involved is inspirational and makes everyone leave the film wanting to do something good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Such an inspiring and moving documentary. It stays with you and makes you want to be part of it. A must see!
