This Japanese children's film follows two young students: Komatsu (H. Sha), a new student who is overweight and comes from a wealthy family, and Oyama (Y. Kataoka), a popular boy whose parents are poor. When Komatsu first arrives, he is ridiculed for being overweight and quickly gains the nickname "Fatty." A sympathetic Oyama befriends him and enjoys the luxuries his family can afford, though Komatsu worries his friendship is based on this material wealth.
