Critics Consensus

A slim-cut slice of bizarre horror, Slaxx effectively balances quirk with gore -- and has the good sense to get out before its oddball premise starts showing its seams.

Cody Corrall Chicago Reader Anyone who has worked in retail will surely relate to the film's beleaguered protagonists, paid too little and pushed to the brink in order to uphold the farce of capitalism. Apr 23, 2021 Full Review Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle It may stumble into heavy-handed moralizing around the checkout, but Slaxx is definitely a good look. Rated: 3/5 Apr 22, 2021 Full Review Angie Han FilmWeek (LAist) An interesting premise... and the film does have fun with it. Mar 22, 2021 Full Review Witney Seibold Critically Acclaimed Podcast Gonzo enough to work, which is quite a feat for a film about a killer pair of pants. Sep 14, 2021 Full Review Jason Shawhan Nashville Scene At its best, Slaxx is The Mangler for the 2020s - a possession narrative playing out as a microcosm of socioeconomic warfare. Sep 9, 2021 Full Review Nicolás Delgadillo Knotfest Unapologetically silly but surprisingly sharp, both in its sense of humor and its larger thematic ideas. Dave S Love it or hate it, you’ve got to give some credit to a movie as head-slappingly insane as Slaxx. Set in a high-end retail clothing store, a shipment of a new brand of in demand jeans arrive. As staff prepare overnight for their release the following day, it becomes evident that something is amiss – the new jeans are possessed and embark on a bloody campaign to kill the staff…and they love to dance to Bollywood music. As crazy as it sounds (and it is crazy), it’s an effective mix of comedy and gruesome horror, a satire that skewers retail practices, corporate malpractice, and social media. While it’s not without its flaws, it’s got some respectable production values for a low-budget movie and, wisely, never takes itself too seriously. And it’s worth watching just to say that you watched a movie about murderous pants. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/29/25 Full Review Andy's E silly bad good time and differently not 96% on rotten tomatoes, just to silly, killer possessed jeans who wrote this Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/17/25 Full Review Claudio C Slaxx (2020) So Trash That Becomes Entertaining (11,852 – 24 Jul 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) The CCC (Canadian Cotton Clothes) is ready to release the new pair of jeans trousers in one of their stores. The CEO Harold Landsgrove (Stephen Bogaert) and the famous influencer Peyton Jules (Erica Anderson) will be in the store to promote the brand. The CCC claims that their cotton comes from an experimental field in India, and they neither explore the workers and the environment and not use child labor. Libby McClean (Romane Denis) is fascinated by CCC and starts working on the store on the eve of the release, under the command of the ambitious store manager Craig (Brett Donahue). Out of the blue, one pair of trousers begins a crime spree, but the store is in lockdown to be prepared for the next day. “Slaxx” (2020) is a Canadian horror-comedy movie so trash that becomes entertaining. The idea of jean trousers possessed and seeking revenge I believe is unique. The trousers enjoying Bollywood songs and dancing is probably the best scene of this movie. We have seen movies with killer refrigerator, tomatoes or hands, but trousers is the first time. And hopefully the last too. My vote is six. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/12/25 Full Review Melissa L This unique horror comedy movie was making a statement on the conditions of workers paid low wages while the end seller has an obscene profit while lying to the public. I think it's worth a watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/19/25 Full Review Evan T This is an amazing work of art #lovethepants Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/25 Full Review Read all reviews
