Nathan H A near-perfect indie movie with the perfect amount of sci-fi ingredients. I love how the writer did not shy away from any of the risky concepts that would have been edited out by less confident hands. The plot took things in an interesting direction, but everything still landed in the end. The acting is superb, the writing is surprisingly fresh, and there was no waste. The final images are brilliant because they happen in the viewer's imagination, but it still somehow works because the movie has earned it. Prepare to have faith in indie fims again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review Ben C Overall an enjoyable watch. While there were elements that required a bit of willing suspension of disbelief, the suspense draws you in. It was slower moving at times but didn't lose momentum. Dule Hill breaks his usual archetype and plays a psychopath believably, while the other roles were solidly acted as well. The movie certainly won't leave you speechless, but also won't leave you disappointed. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/25/23 Full Review Georgan G A clever blend of rap, mature characters who make mistakes & sci fi. I really wanted to like this movie, but it refused to be liked. Did I nod off or can someone explain the plot? Thought I understood until the end. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/05/23 Full Review andrei d Finalul nu e ce trebuie Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Cliched, but mellow and easy to understand. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member It had potential to be good, but the drug dealing predicament was thought of by a middle class person or middle class group of people who have no idea how those situations work. Soraya Nadia McDonald Andscape Maybe it doesn't take a production budget north of $100 million to crank out a superhero film these days. Sep 26, 2017 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader Sleight... is a minor film with major virtues: tenderness, imagination, and a strong grasp of character and setting. May 4, 2017 Full Review Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle There's more going on here than meets the eye, but Sleight's sleeveless heart beats true and conjures its characters to wild life. Rated: 2.5/5 May 4, 2017 Full Review Allen Almachar The MacGuffin It's the little details that count, and Sleight is a strong example of that. Rated: B+ Jul 18, 2020 Full Review Samuel R. Murrian Parade Magazine This could be a star-making turn for Latimore, who is effortlessly engaging in a layered role. Rated: 3/5 May 9, 2019 Full Review Lawrence Ware The Root This is not a perfect film, but I don't expect that from a superhero film. I want solid characters, convincing acting and solid action. The fact that this film gives all of that while being centered in the black experience makes it a must-see. Jan 9, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
