Glenn Heath Jr. Hollywood Reporter Lazarus' film might not be all that engaging as a piece of cinema, but it's a worthy examination of a classic scientist trying to make strides for the human race while living in a post-modern world that doesn't always care. Aug 11, 2015 Full Review Martin Tsai Los Angeles Times Director Paul Lazarus devotes much of the running time to constructing Kamen's cult of personality. He's variously shown to be a Steve Jobs-type visionary, a Bill Gates-type philanthropist and a John du Pont-type eccentric. Jul 16, 2015 Full Review Ben Kenigsberg New York Times Accounts of Mr. Kamen's other good works - like founding a charity to teach children about science - only increase the sense of a glorified sales pitch, however noble or inspiring the cause. Jul 9, 2015 Full Review Mark Jackson Epoch Times Drinkable water will turn toxic in the near future, globally. Genius inventor of the Segway builds a water purifier like nothing you've seen before. 'Slingshot' brings hope. Rated: 4.5/5 May 27, 2016 Full Review Cameron Meier Orlando Weekly The doc is much more than a description of a new technology -- it's an examination of why science is not more highly valued in our society. Rated: 3.75/5 Aug 14, 2015 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Unfocused and lacking insight, but it's at least entertaining thanks to its witty, quirky subject. Audience Member This is a terrible movie, we watched it on last day of school and it made me want to kill myself. Besides the fact that it was edited in imovie and looks like crap, this guy is no einstein and tbh nobody cares about this segway nerd Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member The invention was better than the documentary. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Unobtanium, unreliablum, expensium. Dean Kagan, inventor of the segway is fascinating to watch as he describes his newest invention, the slingshot. A machine that could bring clean water to the masses. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting person and subject. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Fantastic Documentary. Dean is an awesome dude. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Dean Kamen is inspirational and a gift to man kind in my book. Bravo for slingshot.
