Audience Member This film is a complete mess. Terrible acting, inept directing and a plot that doesn't make an ounce of sense. If you are a fan of Asian horror films, you're probably a fan of all the tone, subtlety and elegance that this movie lacks. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Although it is a good enough film to keep you occupied, the plot is somewhat weak as it deviates from legend too much. Alongside this, the acting at times is poor. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member 2007 Japan Director: Koji Shiraishi Score: 8 It’s been a while since a I have seen a modern horror film strike that great balance between shocking gore scenes and disturbingly eerie atmosphere. I am glad to have found one in this release. The one and only problem I had with the plot was the rather logic stretching ending. The ending breaks the rules, basically, that the film itself had set. It was clearly established that the horrible curse would end if the head was taken from the body of the possessed. That was done, in a rather gruesome scene, and so we had a good ending. Unfortunately the film maker just couldn’t leave well enough alone. He breaks his own established rule and gives what he must think was a “twist” or “shock” ending. What it was though was a plot damaging illogical bit of inconsistency. The rest of the movie, however, is great. Disturbing scenes are found through out, and not just due to gore. The sound track is good, and stays in pace with the action. The actors, even the young ones, are pretty good. Despite an ending that might induce some eye-rolling, I do recommend this one. Notes: XV Suggested Age: 16+ Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
