Audience Member A spoiled wealthy young guy who spends his days playing pranks on others sends an alcoholic poet on an unanticipated road trip in this black comedy from Austria. This one really goes in some odd, unexpected places in the last act. My name is angst! - A film about two tedious guys with a lot of time on their hands and money. So they do pranks on people, seemingly harmless at first, but that gradually changes. Whew. This was one hell of an interesting movie. It may start off slow, but it really just grows on you. I thought the screenplay was great, and that the storyline was really just interesting. This flick kept me wonderfully entertained throughout without being over the top, or even below, and it was just overall pleasant to watch. Its also weird, and sort of absurd in ways but its great. The actors are also very good, and that just makes it even better. I really enjoyed this flick but it left me questioning, with 'why?' But that makes it even more enthralling to try and evaluate why Sebastian does all his peculiarly odd tricks. It's an entreating flick, with a cold and slightly wondrous setting, it also swaps to some appealing locations as well. I thought the characters were quite interesting as well with their slightly off, outlandish personalities. Overall, I thought this flick was intriguing, and also, hellishly entertaining, and well, just kind of fascinating in some way. I just really liked it for some reason. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Wow! Fantastisch! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Ridiculously underrated, but i guess you only see it cos its on RTE2 at 2AM and it is an Austrian production so little known. then again its the only time you want to see it, late night bliss. characters dont stand out much, maybe except the drunk, but the smart guy-sidekick roles are well done. the drunks journey of discovery is the highlight here, getting better as the film progresses. Kirk Honeycutt Hollywood Reporter Darkness overshadows humor with characters that are either so overbearing or misanthropic that they destroy any enjoyment of its quirky nature. Oct 30, 2006 Full Review Wally Hammond Time Out Ably shot and well-performed and observed, Slumming, initially manifests an interesting and unsentimental impassivity and moral neutrality before succumbing to a more-or-less orthodox story of redemption through love. Impressive all the same. Oct 30, 2006 Full Review Eddie Cockrell Variety A provocative, finely crafted pic that becomes alarmingly disjointed in the last reels but casts enough of a spell. Apr 18, 2006 Full Review Steve Rhodes Internet Reviews It has promise, but it is mostly unrealized. ... The story doesn't develop but just falls apart.
