Robert Abele Los Angeles Times The question is whether a button-pushing movie like "Sobibor" is the ideal way to experience it. Mar 28, 2019 Full Review C.H. Newell Father Son Holy Gore See Sobibór. Absorb its messages. Teach your children about hate, in all its forms. Then, teach them to love. Rated: 4/5 Apr 29, 2019 Full Review Mark R. Leeper Mark Leeper's Reviews While the entire film has been downbeat (to say the least) the film turns itself into a paean to freedom. It is strong change of tone. Rated: 920 Apr 28, 2019 Full Review James Kendrick Q Network Film Desk a fine and moving film, but one can't help but wish that Khabenskiy had better trusted the inherent impact of the story and not tried to escalate it quite so much Rated: 3/4 Apr 8, 2019 Full Review Sr. Rose Pacatte Sister Rose at the Movies The film is even more interesting coming from a Russian perspective. The violence, suffering, death and loss are heartbreaking. Apr 2, 2019 Full Review Anne Brodie What She Said As grim as the story and the moment in history is, the film des offer moments of light and community within the camp. Joseph The movie has a great number of inaccuracies which made it more like a drama than a historical reenactment (which is bad considering it is supposed to depict the deadliest and most horrific stage of the final solution). A much more accurate movie about Sobibor and Alexander Pechersky would be the 1987 "Escape From Sobibor". Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an excellent film, but harrowing to watch at times. This story needs to be told for a new generation and this film does it very powerfully. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review alex h I do not get why there are so many negative reviews, whether it is because of the movie's primary language being Russian or some historical inaccuracy. I honestly found this movie really good. It is not the best WWII movie, but it is a good one, especially from Russian moviemakers, which haven't done anything remarkable with the support of "Fond Kino" in years! I remember seeing this movie in theaters and I remember the feeling of myself being hooked to the seat, as you understand what the characters are feeling, the story seems pretty accurate and you understand how horrible the events that are being told about were. Obviously it is not something even close to "The Schindler's List", but it is good enough to spend not even one, but a few nights with that movie, because of it being rewatchable and it's topic being popular and well known up until this day. Konstantin Khabensky does an outstanding job, just like he did in the TV Show "Trotsky", as he is good with portraying serious historical characters. He deserves much better than just simple cameos in Hollywood movies or cut out scenes from "World War Z". Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review andy p they weigh too much, look their captors in the eye and have vodka to drink. i don't think so... Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Not the best Film about the WWII Labor/Concentration camps, but certainly not the worst. However, here's my question: :Just about every quarter of just about every year, we get a film about the 'Holocaust', yet there has not been 1 (one) film produced by Hollywood to date 60 years on, about the RUSSIAN 'HOLOCAUST' (The HOLODOMOR) Where somewhere between 40 & 60 Million Christian Russians were brutally & systematically Starved, Worked to Death in Gulags or outright Liquidated by the Bolsheviks (???) (*It really does beg the question: does the 'Holocaust' have a copyright of sorts on murder, pain & suffering? If not, why does it seem to upstage every other calamity that has occurred over the past century? If it's a question of numbers, why is it compulsory curriculum in school yet nothing is taught to our children about the Holodomor -or- the Armenian Genocide? Something worth considering) Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
