Patricia P Excelent! Don't understand critics. This movie is increíble Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie brought tears to my eyes. There were some parts that were hard to watch but I was happy to see the little girl escape in the end. I am glad this movie was made because it brings attention to a very serious problem in child sex trafficking. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Frances H The horror of human trafficking through the eyes of a victim, a 13 year old child sold to a brothel by her father, who I suspect knew what he was doing. An affecting story about the fate of millions of children around the world, this is one of humanity's greatest shames. That the central character does not give in and accept her fate is to her credit. Hard to watch, but a wake up call. For every one who is saved, I am sure there are millions who suffer for the length of their short lives. It is a message that needs to be heard! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/18 Full Review Audience Member SOLD is a deeply disturbing movie that gives a glimpse into the world of child sex slave trafficking in India and how very few escape this terrible horror filled life. It is a moving story of a young girl who has dreams of someday helping her mother replace the family's leaking thatched roof with Tin and while at a traditional celebration she meets a woman who tells her and her father that she will take her to the Big City (India) where she will make lots of money working for a wealthy family in they're home. What this brave 12yr old girl encounters is horrifyingly heartbreaking! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member It's sadness but important, The movie covey the gritty of child and women traffcking Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent movie, very tastefully done, if that can be said about such a subject. If the topic of sex trafficking or modern day slavery matters to you, I highly recommend you watch this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Alan Zilberman Washington Post "Sold" is maudlin in a way that makes its audience, paradoxically, feel good, albeit superficially. A story of human trafficking should move us on a deeper, more uncomfortable level. Rated: 1.5/4 Apr 21, 2016 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News All of this is uncomfortable to watch. Then again, given the subject matter, it should be. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 14, 2016 Full Review John Hartl Seattle Times [Brown] does his best to suggest the lighter side of the subject, especially in a furiously choreographed Bollywood number that captures the heroine's rare moments of joy. Rated: 3/4 Apr 14, 2016 Full Review Kathy Fennessy The Stranger (Seattle, WA) Sold isn't cheap or shoddy and the relationships between the captives is affecting, but it's impossible to shake the feeling that it would make more sense in a lecture hall than in a theater. Aug 18, 2017 Full Review Anita Katz San Francisco Examiner The film has a worthy message, but doesn't present its brave young heroine's story compellingly. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 15, 2016 Full Review Sherilyn Connelly SF Weekly Brown makes it clear that what happened to Lakshmi is not her fault - and more importantly, she's never passive, taking her fate into her own hands.
