Steve D Dempsey can't act yet but the rest is fun. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/04/23 Full Review Bryson Y Look, ignore the poisonous jades who have given this film the splat. These critics eventually get infected with their own bile, till they're unable to enjoy the sort of wit, innocence and grace this film has in abundance. Every single performance here is exemplary from the wonderful Dempsey on down, making this a rom/com worthy of the Grant/Hepburn era, but with its own sweet mystery at heart. Charming, funny, gorgeously shot and edited; if none of these hold any attraction for you then definitely give this movie a miss. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/01/23 Full Review Audience Member The ultimate teenage sexual frustration movie wrapped in a Quebec indie blanket with a good cast (Connelly, Dempsey, Kelley, Gregory) that is able to handle the sometimes trite, repetitive and fantastical storyline Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I like this a lot. It was "charming" if not about anything much in particular. It's this conventional American bourgeois boy hanging out with the very bohemian family of his girlfriend up in Montreal (aka Europe). The norms are different in this family, and he has the grace to embrace it and finally accept it while sometimes horrified or angry but always surprised. I just found it pleasant, charming, warm-hearted. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought this might just be another pointless adolescent romp, but it actually had some substance. It's about relationships, family, and love, and all the wonder and confusion it brings. Dempsey's character says it in the end: all his theories mean nothing. And in the end, it's just about love and the passing of that love one generation to the next, not with the greatest of understanding but with passion and compassion sans intellect and reason. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member One time watchable. Still got no idea why I watched the whole film. It is onion type vintage movie. If u start to peel(watch) it, Nothing will be there at ending.🙄 Maybe we need to be 70's kids to like these movies. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Variety Staff Variety A cross-cultural teen sex farce with some good moments, Some Girls hinges on the deadpan comic timing of Patrick Dempsey. Dec 17, 2012 Full Review Time Out To its credit, the film is well cast and boasts imaginative production design, but is neither particularly funny nor emotionally credible. Dec 17, 2012 Full Review Rita Kempley Washington Post The rest of the cast, like the D'Arc mansion itself, has problems with electricity. There isn't any. Dec 17, 2012 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid Patrick Dempsey gives a likable performance at the center of Michael Hoffmann's Some Girls and he almost holds it together on goodwill alone. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 24, 2022 Full Review Chris Hicks Deseret News (Salt Lake City) There are some sweet moments and several very funny scenes, mostly of the door-slamming, mistaken identity variety. Dec 17, 2012 Full Review TV Guide The film remains highly entertaining through all its baroque turns of events, and the performances are fine. Rated: 3/4 Dec 17, 2012 Full Review Read all reviews
