Ela Bittencourt Slant Magazine With a few painterly strokes, Hanna Polak's camera powerfully evokes the dump's hellish dimension. Jun 4, 2015 Full Review Neil Genzlinger New York Times The living conditions of Yula and the others we meet may seem dehumanizing, but Ms. Polak finds humanity nonetheless. May 21, 2015 Full Review David Bax Battleship Pretension It will shake you and give you hope at the same time. It is one of the best films I've seen this year. Jan 15, 2021 Full Review Arlin Golden Film Inquiry One might not have much hope in coming out of a documentary about people living in such squalor feeling uplifted, but Something Better To Come manages to achieve just that. Dec 8, 2016 Full Review Louis Proyect rec.arts.movies.reviews Like "Boyhood", this film tracks a character for 14 years. Unlike "Boyhood", it is actually compelling cinema. Audience Member This is a story that will bring you to tears! Everyone should see this so that they know how good they have it! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member 2/2/16 Consideration It is hard to believe that people live in these horrible, dehumanizing conditions but the film maker does a great job capturing the human spirit of Yula and others to survive and make a life for themselves. They have a certain nobility around them and show creativity in using the scrap around them for food and shelter. While it is not a particularly happy ending it is a fulfilling one.
