Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times The committed artists of Something's Gonna Live, while grateful for their remarkable careers, are not sentimentalists. What a challenge their body of work presents to current and future filmmakers! Rated: 4/5 Sep 9, 2010 Full Review Kenneth R. Morefield 1More Film Blog These men care(d) about film, care(d) not just that they be technically proficient but that they say something truthful about the human condition. Rated: 4/4 Jan 2, 2013 Full Review Christopher Long Movie Metropolis Hollywood reserves several minutes out of every year to commemorate its past. Fortunately filmmakers like Daniel Raim are here to fill out the rest of the schedule. Rated: 7/10 Aug 21, 2012 Full Review Doug Cummings Filmjourney What sets the film apart are its tender sense of camaraderie (felt in many candid, informal conversations) and its thematic heft: these artists genuinely want to reflect the human condition, a value often lost in today's technological extravaganzas. Sep 15, 2010 Full Review Annlee Ellingson Moving Pictures Magazine The film is at its best when it shows these masters at work, both then and now. Sep 14, 2010 Full Review Read all reviews

Aldo G Those of us who love movies and how they are made should consider this a must-see. Adding to the pleasure of this documentary are the artists profiled. Each of them is a lovable uncle type with great stories. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Worth watching for any cinemaphile. The six gentlemen profiled offer a master class in old style cinematography and how it is vital and needs to be rediscovered in more of the modern cinematic stylists...the reflections on The Birds and In Cold Blood are immensely interesting. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Of the six filmmakers we meet in this doc, sadly only Haskell Wexler is still living now. Yet as the cumbersome title suggests their work still lives. Art Director Robert Boyle is the main focus. He is self-reflective and adorable throughout. He is joined by old friends and fellow art directors Henry Bumstead and Albert Nozaki. Each of their careers is briefly illustrated with anecdotes and samples of their work. Examples of Boyle's collaborations with Conrad Hall, Harold Michelson and Wexler are each also discussed. The documentary jumps around without a clear narrative thread unfortunately. With these 6 greats of all times winning 25 "Oscar" nominations and more than 400 fims they will no doubt "gonna live" on. Ex. Producer, Tommy G Warren Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A great documentary that allows these great legions of the golden days of Hollywood to live on, educate and entertain future generations.
